Divorce
Divorce (Get)
Divorce is permitted under Jewish Law through the giving of a divorce bill called a Get. A Get not only serves as proof the couple is freed from the bonds of matrimony, it actually effects the divorce. Jewish Law also requires the couple to abide by the laws of the land and acquire a civil divorce.
The Get is written by a scribe and is individually tailored to the couple. The Get procedure takes place in front of a Beit Din (or Rabbinical Court) and, after it is completed, the individuals are permitted to remarry under Jewish Law.
Our Rabbis are experienced and available to meet with any couple experiencing marital difficulties for counselling and are prepared to assist with the Get process when necessary.
