The Tova Vickar & Family Childcare Centre is operated by Congregation Shaarey Zedek located within the synagogue at 561 Wellington Crescent in Winnipeg. Established through a generous donation made by Larry and Tova Vickar and Family, this brand-new facility opened on January 7, 2025 and provides a premium childcare experience with a professional childcare team focused on building a proud Jewish identity with play-based, structured, and individualized learning. The facility is designed with two childcare rooms — one for Infants 18 months up to 3 years of age, and a second room for children ages 3 to 6 years old — as well as an outdoor play area, fenced on the front lawn of the synagogue, with play structure to be installed in Spring 2025.

Hours of Operation

Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Closed for the following Jewish Holidays if they fall on a weekday: First two days of Passover, Two days of Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur.

Closed for Canadian Holidays on New Year's Day, Louis Riel Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Terry Fox Day, Labour Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day (In the event that any of the above holidays occur on a weekend, the next regular work day will be observed as the holiday, except for Remembrance Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation).

Early Closures when the following Canadian and Jewish Holidays fall on a weekday: Erev Rosh Hashanah 4:00 PM, Yom Kippur (3:00 PM) Erev Sukkot 4:00 PM, Erev Pesach 4:00 PM; Erev Shavout 4:00 PM, Christmas Eve (December 24th) 4:00 PM; New Year's Eve (December 31st) 4:00 PM
