At Tova Vickar & Family Childcare Centre, learning is heavily based on play. The staff observes children while playing and keeps notes of their interests to develop experiences that expand upon each child’s development. They encourage independence, creativity, and fine motor skills, and promote a positive Jewish culture while including children from all backgrounds. They take advantage of teachable moments during routines and transitions and encourage discussions to help children work through difficulties. The center also celebrates Shabbat and Jewish holidays, holds weekly Torah reads, and includes daily Hebrew circle time to instill a positive Jewish identity. The staff prioritizes building strong relationships with families and conveys information on the child’s learning and development through day-to-day interactions and emails.
